What is Behind It All?

I wanted to follow the Emotional Hunger talk with this quote...

Following the Pattern
The Tao of Power, Lao Tzu’s Classic Guide to Leadership, Influence, and Excellence by R. L. Wing

"What is curved becomes whole:
What is crooked becomes straight.
What is deep becomes filled;
What is exhausted becomes refreshed....."

The ancient saying is more like a riddle on the meaning of life and its difficulties...

"What is curved becomes whole
Are these empty words?
To become whole
Turn within."

What is behind our difficulties, the fears we have learned and the challenges we now face? Certainly, the Universe doesn't waste a moment of pain and discomfort and call it "unimportant"!

What could possibly be a value out of an insurmountable past that is difficult to leave behind or times when life is stacked against us?

Could this ancient saying be suggesting it is to drive you "in"
To discover your true self
Your true strength, and
True love?

Please feel free to post your thoughts...

Came home late last night from the Club

My daughter had made the Quinoa with Balsamic Roasted Mushrooms
http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/2854 under the sides / salads. She added a chicken breast.
I had a great food session with  Team 5 who is calling themselves FIT over Five or FIT / FIVE. Out of the discussion I realized that many of you are not eating frequently enough and are very tired by the time you stop to make dinner and then binge on crackers and cheese.

Some of the most difficult times are
  • Mid-Afternoon - low blood sugar
  • Preparing Dinner - Low blood sugar
  • The Day- After- the- Workout- muscle repair, stiffness, fatigue & self-medicating with Carbs

Having a lunch with protein and fiber should last longer. EX chili or a salmon lentil salad
Those of you learning to cook more or just really busy consider a protein shake for a snack mid-afternoon or following your workout.. It can be a meal replacement but not a crutch.

Remember: with protein shakes and bars you must drink a lot of water or you could become constipated.

Overall as a mid-afternoon snack this will make fixing a dinner that is healthy easier to do because you will not be dying of hunger.
Imagine a diet where you have to eat!

As far as which protein shake to get...
Cinda swears by one that helped her lose 150 pounds.
I have used one that is available at Whole Foods that tastes pretty good. Of course is individual..Check in with her or me for more information.

FIT /FIVE is leading the pack in food training. They are meeting with me next week at a home and we are all bringing dishes to pass to try different foods and recipes...! Any other teams want to try this?

Tonight I will be with the Gut Busters at Marie's house to talk food. More later...Bonnie

Post Workout Chili! - My Dinner

Hi Everyone!
I made my chili and improvised by using the left over Italian Pot Roast from the beef section on the recipe page. I let it simmer while I finished the laundry and headed off to the Club.
I had a great visit with Veronica while she was power walking on the treadmill, later with Michelle as she came out of Power Pump, and Cinda walked in for her second workout of the day.
Nancy Cohen is joining the Waist Management Team. She, Cinda, Billy Sunday Mars (our weekend speaker} and I exercised our jaws talking about the emotional hungers that keep us in habits that don't support a healthy life. It was a great conversation that left us all feeling powerful about the possibilities of change and more compassionately understanding about why things hung us up in the past.
I worked my legs on the machines, came home and ate my chili - it was great!
